On Copa Chile Basketball, after five games you have a sight of the trend, next month we have the Playoffs, and can compare top teams.

On Group A:
The CLASSIC rivalry Osorno vs Valdivia moved to basketball as well, and the Osorno Basquetbol team (born just 2010) represented the city well, beating CDV 71-55. The only loss in solid Valdivia, expect this two to reach playoffs and MAYBE Osorno B. to be the surprise as Valdivia did in DIMAYOR 2009.

Positions are:
[pos., points, games, wins, losses]:
1    9    5    4    1    CD Valdivia
2    8    4    4    0    Osorno B.
3    8    5    3    2    D. Las Ánimas
4    6    5    1    4    U. AUSTRAL
5    5    5    0    5    Español Osorno

This weekend:
83.- A Friday 6th 20:30 CD Valdivia vs Español Osorno
84.- A Friday 6th 20:00 Osorno B. vs U. Austral
98.- A Sunday 8th 19:00 Español Osorno vs Osorno B.
99.- A Sunday 8th 19:00 D. Las Ánimas vs CD Valdivia

On Group B (South)
CD UDECONCE beated Deportivo Chillán and had no trouble on the court. The scoreboard failed several times, and the fans did not attend in mass. Reinforcement Isla underwent surgery and is out for this championship.

Alemán Concepcion received current Champion Español and lost 91-60.

Positions are:
[pos., points]:
1    ESPAÑOL DE TALCA    6
2    CD UDECONCE    5
3    DEPORTIVO ALEMAN    4
4    DEPORTIVO CHILLAN    3

The May 6-8 weekend, the return games are played, switching stadiums and same teams. UDECONCE will host another classic against Alemán, Español should have no trouble hosting Chillán.

On Group C:
Positions are:
[pos., points, games, wins, losses]:
1    STADIO ITALIANO    9    5    4    1
2    BOSTON COLLEGE    8    4    4    0
3    PEDRO AGUIRRE CERDA    8    5    3    2
4    SERGIO CEPPI    6    5    1    4
5    VOCACIONAL DE CONCHALI    5    5    0    5

Of course Boston College is my favorite for the Championship, and so far is undefeated. Stadio Italiano is also performing well, but this is a weak group, the REAL Tournament start on the Playoffs.

Group D:
Positions are:
[pos., points, games, wins, losses]:
1    11    6    5    1    PALESTINO
2    10    5    5    0    CD U. CATOLICA
3    10    6    4    2    U. DE CHILE
4    8    6    2    4    APACEMB DE CURACAVI
5    5    5    0    5    ESTADIO MANQUEHUE
6    4    4    0    4    DEPORTIVO INBA

Also a weak group, undefeated Católica is the candidate, altough Coach Ureta declared this year to be difficult, since they lost key players and is re-forming with young players.

Group E:
Positions are:
[pos., points, games, wins, losses]:
1    10    5    5    0    ESTADIO ESPAÑOL
2    9    5    4    1    MUNICIPAL PUENTE ALTO
3    6    4    2    2    SABUESOS
4    6    5    1    4    DEPORTIVO BRISAS
5    5    5    0    5    THE SHADOWS QUILICURA

Puente Alto is not the same as before, so Estadio Español (Las Condes) is undefeated this First Round, can it be the surprise? Again, on a mixture of Professionals and amateurs, the performance is unreal.

Group F:
Positions are:
[pos., points, games, wins, losses]:
1    9    5    4    1    U. DE SANTIAGO
2    9    5    4    1    DEPORTIVO CEFIRO
3    8    5    3    2    CLUB PROVIDENCIA
4    6    5    1    4    ARABE DE RANCAGUA
5    4    4    0    4    ESTRELLA DE MOLINA

This group F is unknown, but also we see a tendency: USACH & Céfiro making difference. Only Estrella is a new team.

On Group G:
Positions are:
[pos., points, games, wins, losses]:
1    10    5    5    0    LICEO MIXTO
2    9    5    4    1    COLEGIO LOS LEONES
3    6    4    2    2    A. PRAT SAN FELIPE
4    6    5    1    4    SALAMANCA
5    5    5    0    5    ARABE SAN FELIPE

No surprises here. Liceo Mixto setting the pace, and Los Leones Quilpué (Top-4 finalist on first Round, Liga Nacional B, 2010) is trying to keep up.

To try to compare for Playoffs, here is the OFFICIAL qualifying table:
[pos., points, games, wins, losses]:
1    10    5    5    0    LICEO MIXTO

4    6    3    3    0    ESPAÑOL DE TALCA
5    10    5    5    0    ESTADIO ESPAÑOL
