May first, 2012: workers day, and Treiles worked hard preparing for the first game of South Conference, National Tournament, LCFA-VTR 2012.

American football team Treiles of BioBio had one of its last training days in Valle Escondido de Paicavi, in Concepcion-City, Chile, for its debut this 2012 season in Liga Chilena de Fútbol Americano (Chilean League of American Football, LCFA)

A treile is
a local bird, with a particular  caw, an onomatopoeia that gives the name to it.

Treiles’s field is called The Nest, and stays the same as before: a zone of earth ground with some brush and weeds, marked with chalk and cones, but standing tall are the characteristic american football goals, in yellow.

On this wilderness, the other construction is a 3-levels grade, with a sort of high wall on the highest level, where the score could be informed. Apart of a log (on the sidelines), there is no option of sitting.

Surprisingly, inside the field and also close to the South-Eastern goal there are zones of, literally, dry guano, scattered over sawdust.

40 young men and not so, performed warming exercises, first focused the practices (defense and offense), with a heterogeneous group of athletic and average players, both experienced and rookies, all interested in this sport.

First game is is scheduled for Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 14:00 (UTC-4) in Estadio Universitario UDEC (Universidad de Concepcion, Campus Concepcion) Home team will be Legion de Concepcion, and visitor will be Treiles, both teams from Concepcion, a classic in development.

The third team on the South Conference is Rhinos from Los Angeles (at a 1:45 hours drive to Concepcion from the East).

Unlike previous games witnessed (that this writer reported or narrated) this game would be played --just like previous Bowls-- on excellent facilities with synthetic grass.

Because it was a long weekend with holidays, what we saw was part of the team, but enough for playing football, and I want to believe, good one.

Two good quarterbacks tested their routes, the new offense tried and sometimes succeeded, to catch those long passes.

The offensive line, meanwhile, protected well its passer (Jimmy, Mati and the assistant).

Because of that, the defense would give 4 or 5 seconds to the QB to make its play, too much, but what they lacked on pressure, they complemented with deflections and interceptions.

Being a practice without protections, the tackles and struggles were firm but loyal, and protecting their fellow players.

If those missing the practice -because of the long weekend- are equal or better, this writer expects a better performance from Treiles than several games witnessed before.

For this young men, the Nest is ideal for the eggs and chicks to transform into adult treiles, symbolically, mature into MEN, leave the jokes, laziness, excuses, behind and get serious, so in words of Cristian Rivera, Head Coach of Treiles:move from "segundones" (runner-ups) to champions.

We will see that on Sunday, at the american football style: whether rains or snows: WILL PLAY BALL.
