Boston College Maipu beat Espanol Talca real close in the Chilean Finals

Rodrigo Espinoza and Patricio Arroyo, experienced and probably the sixth man of Boston College were the top scorers in the winner. Young Franco Morales scored 24 in the looser in the first of best-of-five Playoff Series of Liga Nacional Basquetbol Movistar.



In scoring, on Boston dissapointed foreigners Darren Townes (6) and Wilfred Benjamin (4). Foreigners Peter Kvietek and Brandon Crawford in Espanol Talca were second scorers with 16 points.

Six points ahead of Boston College Maipu in second quarter, eight in the third were not enough because Boston College Maipu came back to gain a 3 points lead before ending 59-57 ahead at the start of fourth quarter.

A scoreless starter Samuel Bravo was fouled out on 3:39, Espanol Talca lost a good defensive player.

At 2:24 with a 70-74 scoreboard, Boston College Maipu were ahead of Espanol Talca, and with 38" a 75-80 was hard to turn back.

Champion gets to play Liga de las Americas in Ibarra, Ecuador, facing no others than Boca Juniors Argentina and Flamengo Brasil.

Sunday, December 12, at 19:00 (GMT -3:00), Game 2 was played in Maipu, then the series moves to Talca. Both games to be broadcasted delayed weekdays at midnight on national air or pay-tv telecanal (2 VHF on Santiago).

Boston College Maipu beat Espanol Talca real close in the Chilean Finals

Boston College Maipu narrowly beat Espanol Talca in the first of a best-of-five play-off series in the Movistar National  Basketball League (Liga Nacional Basquetbol Movistar)

Rodrigo Espinoza and Patricio Arroyo were the top scorers for the winning side, with young Franco Morales picking-up 24 points for the losers. Espanol Talca’s Peter Kvietek and Brandon Crawford were second scorers with 16 points while Boston College’s Darren Townes and Wilfred Benjamin disappointed with just 6 and 4 points respectively.

Although Espanol Talca lead by six points ahead in the second quarter, and eight in the third, it was not enough as Boston College Maipu came back to gain a 3 points lead before ending 59-57 ahead at the start of fourth quarter.

Foreigners Peter Kvietek (203-C-77) and Brandon Crawford (198-F-89, college: Jacksonville St.) in Deportivo Espanol Talca were second scorers with 16 points.
