A lots of alternatives, mostly popular theater, is available from January in Region VIII:

1.     UCSC Teather Season in Aula Magna
2.     Artistas del Acero presents La Otra Zapatilla theater and dance from January 10 to 18

1) Universidad Católica de la Santisima Concepción started its Teather Season, popular prices for famous plays, up to CLP$ 3000, a whole week of choices next to the Independence Square.

* "Mes del Arte y la Cultura" program in Lota

Starts Friday, January 13, with the play "Parrandeando". The season will include musical shows, voice festival, kids theater workshops, jazz, dance, trova, painting contests, band festivals and a book fair.

Will end February 10.

* Preseason Soccer moves, New Division. Basketball

Soccer:
The regional socer teams during preseason are moving their pieces to form a final roster. Primera División starts January 27, Primera B starts in Febreuary.

Universidad de Concepción (UDECONCE) added 6 players
Huachipato added 5

on lower Primera División B:
Naval: 9 additions
Concepción: 14 plus the coach
Lota: 10.
Ñublense: 8.

New Division
ANFP formed a new Division called Segunda División (Second D.), it will include traditional teams and others by bidding applications. This Division will be above Tercera División, but below Primera B.

Local Fernández Vial requested the rulebook to apply to Segunda División.

Basketball:

On Dimayor League, UDECONCE won its first of two games as visitor against Católica. A positive 0-9 streak in the last quarter decided a tied game. January 12 is the second game in Las Condes, and this weekend will host winless Curacaví, not in the University Campus, but on the Huachipato Complex. Attend!

In Liga Nacional, Alemán Concepción, lost both games against lower posoitioned visitors, easily against Sagrados Corazones, and Sunday with some more chances. This weekend will visit Castro and Osorno.

* Primaries for Concertación in Concepción, Talcahuano and Tomé January 15

Primaries have been set, with candidates for Mayors in the region, so elector decide the best candidate inside every political party. In Concepción and Talcahuano, a Mayor position for Democracia Cristiana (Christian Democracy, or DC, located in the centrer-left) will be conducted Sunday, January 15. In Tomé, DC Councelers are to be elected.

Other Parties and Comunas have had Primaries (Chiguayante), and others will, so this new method is to be validated by the electors, considering the proposal to have mandatory registering, and voluntary vote.

Later in April, the parties alliances (will run as Lists) will also have Primaries in order to select, from the joining parties, the runners for every Mayor position. This is giving power to the electors instead of central metopolitan finger-picked candidates.
