Major wildfire burns more than 28000 Has

New year’s eve in Ñuble, a wilfire started, around the time the Torres del Paine fire erupted. Unlike that Region XII fire, that atracted top headline news being a National Park, the BioBio Region wildfire has been extending out of control. There was a traffic jam of 15 km before the tollbooth on Ruta del Itata. The Itendent and Governor requested the free raising of the barrier, it denied in the begining but later was accepted. Later the route was closed down due to the smoke. The fires have been extending in mostly rural areas, and it is presumed it was intentional since several points started simultaneously.

Sports Update: Preseason Soccer moves, Basketball: suspension&North visitors

Soccer:
All the regional teams have been in preseason replacing players. Most want to improve its previous performance (see previous Weekly news update).

UDECONCE included 5 additions, and 1 return.
Huachipato added 3 players
Naval: 6 additions
Concepción: 11 plus the coach.
Lota Schwager: 8.
Ñublense: 5.

Fernández Vial is in the crossroads: ANFP is creating a Professional Third Division (“Segunda División”), and Vial is invited to join, it requires a ch$ 20 million insurance deposit. But Club elections are scheduled after the deadline, so any decision will be controversial and is being delayed.

Basketball:
UDECONCE suspended its DIMAYOR League home game vs Curacaví, citing traveling difficulties, but the Gym is also currently in use for University applications after PSU national test. Is undefeated at the top.

Standings by average before Thursday, January 5 games:
1,00 CD UDECONCE
0,87 LICEO MIXTO
0,67 ESPAÑOL
0,60 UNION ESPAÑOLA
0,36 ANTOFAGASTA
0,31 U. CATOLICA
0,15 SAN LUIS
0,00 CURACAVI

For Alemán Concepción, in Liga Nacional scaled to fourth position, will receive supposedly two big North visitors. I say supposedly because Sagrados Corazones Viña is tied in last position and plays Saturday; then Sunday: Boston College, fifth, but is in a loosing visitor streak. The pairings Valdivia-Alemán is favouring Alemán; long distance for the next weekend game, plus the team is unknown and its Gym is hard to find.

I will be broadcasting via internet: http://ustream.tv/channel/chilebasketball

Standings and points before Second Round, games 9&10:
15 Castro
14 Los Leones
13 Osorno
12 Alemán
11 Boston College
11 Puente Alto
10 Sagrados Corazones
10 Valdivia
