CAPTION: Other view of last wall demolished in Alto Arauco II Building.

The last wall, in Alto Arauco II Building, was demolished on Golborne's order.

So far, works on Alto Río and Torre O’Higgins buildings are finished.
Torre Libertad has a 97% of level, and Alto Arauco building a 90%.

But there are still three buildings to demolish or deconstruct: Centro Mayor and Rodrigo de Triana in Hualpén; and a wing of Plaza del Río building in Concepción.

Announcements included the construction beginning of Chacabuco Bridge this 2012, to replace a current temporary mecano bridge.

Waking ghosts

On Monday, January 23, lunch time was interrupted by a six degrees seism (earthquake) at 13:04. It was a movement that was preceded by a ground noise, then a strong movement that caused some fear amongst -supposedly used to- Region VIII inhabitants.

The seism and its aftershocks were located 60 km North of Concepción near Cobquecura, about 15 kilometers below gound level, and it was attributed to be  replicas of the 8.8 Richter eartquake of February 27, 2010.

Several weaker aftershocks contributed to some panic. The telephone voice system (even fixed lines) collapsed, while family members were calling eachother to know their whereabouts.

Remember: the emergency recommendation is to use cellphone Short Messages since it uses less bandwith, gets priority and leaves available the audio where it is strictly needed. Internet was also available.

Red Alert for Chiguayante Fires.

A Red alert for the Concepción Province was set Tuesday, January 24, due to the Chiguayante Fire and the weather conditions (high temperature amongst others).

Afterwards, the Alert was lowered to Preventive Early Alert by ONEMI and Conaf.

This is Fires Season, please remember to prevent fires following the advice of the authorities.
