The famous Concepción Fair of Popular Art, where everything is on sale, starts its 48° version Friday, January 20, and runs for about three weeks. A Free panorama for the whole family. A food court and security are implemented. From a pin to a pan and a paint,
come soon, because the good stuff is sold or reserved first, but you can still admire it. From 1964, is a regular Summer visit for artisans from Chile and abroad, and of course interested admirers. More than a hundred of artisans from Russian, Latinamerican, Middle Eastern and of course the whole Chile come, produce their work in their stands, sell it, take requests, and interact with the visitors. Open the whole day.

The Universidad de Concepción Orchestra is having concerts with rising musicians, named "Young Talents". Friday, the works are "Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in B Minor Op 35", also "Thais Meditation", "Prelude & Allegro" by Fritz Kreisler, and "Gypsy Airs for violin and orchestra".
Saturday, the works to present are "Concert for Clarinet No. 1", by Karl Stamitz and "Ballade for flute and orchestra, Op. 288", by Carl Reinecke.

Bioparlante Expo.Music.Fest. bands Sunday in San Pedro Amphitheater
Sunday in the open San Pedro Amphitheater, in the Park next to the lakes, the II Bioparlante Expo.Music.Fest. will start for seven hours -asume there will be more- with 22 regional rock bands. Watch for the mosquitoes.

Soccer friendlies, deadline for Second Division, Basketball: UDECONCE undefeated and last chance for Alemán
A summary of the regional sports teams, 3 divisions and 8 teams on soccer, 2 teams on basketball, and events.
Soccer:
The regional socer teams, during preseason, seem to have found their rosters, now are in the test phase by playing friendly matches. Primera División schedule is defined for January 27-30, Primera B starts in February.
UDECONCE competitive friendlies: beat San Luis as visitor. Next friendlies: Thursday 19 for free-to-air TV: Católica in Temuco; Saturday 21: final in Temuco also for National TV. Sunday 22: Puerto Montt as visitor.
Huachipato hosted a tied game against Lota Schwager, Unión Temuco, hosted Ñublense and won 2-1. Next: Saturday 21 hosting Lota Schwager.
Primera División B
Naval: Friday, January 20 will host Rangers. The "Noche Chorera" Presentation was postponed to January 29.
Deportes Concepción lost its presentation at home 1-4 versus Colo Colo for free National TV.
Lota Schwager: lost to UDECONCE as visitor. Tied a visit to Huachipato. Next: Saturday 21 visiting Huachipato.
Ñublense: visited Huachipato and lost. Will visit again Saturday January 21.
Fernández Vial
Amateur Organization ANFA will dispute ANFP's new Division "Segunda División", citing rule breaking and mixing professionals with amateurs, without ANFA authorization. Friday 20 of January is the deadline to open letters of applicants, will discard non-compliers and the ruling will be know the next week.
Fernández Vial has a its Asamblea -reunion- and elections for directives, the climate is tense since not making the Segunda División would be cause a double failure: could not promote to Primera B, -finished behind Barnechea by 1 point-, and staying in Tercera División would leave them 2 divisions behind Barnechea.
Basketball:
On the tradional League Dimayor, UDECONCE won two visitor games against Católica, then 2 home against Curacaví, finalizing with two wins hosting surprising Unión Española. Undefeated and proving its superiority by winning 6 games in 9 days.
But next week -on working days- UDECONCE will tests its streak by visiting third positioned Español in Talca. Twice -back-to-back- in consecutive days.

San Sebastián is tributed every year in Yumbel town. The famous Saint, is revered as miracle granter, but also famous to demand payback. So if you asked him a favor -a miracle-, and he granted it to you, is usually because you offered him to pay your respects to the saint, by attending a mass, light a candle, pay a considerable donation, or sometimes go to extreme physical suffering so the miracle was worth it.
Alongside the way to the ritual, many selling posts are set to offer all kimds of merchandise, most not related to this occasion. It is hundreds of thousands of faithful believers and their families, and commerce, a must see for tourists, and hey, if you do not pay the miracle, San Sebastián may take something from you, so, pay or face the tragic consecuences.

Concepción: Álvaro Ortiz with 56,14%, second was Martín Zilic with 37,46%.
On a related note, former Major, -then emergency Intendent, later forced to renounce- Jacqueline Van Rysselberghe (UDI party), is returning by declaring to go as candidate for a Senator position.
