* Region VIII Sports review: Rebirth of DIMAYOR, levelling of soccer to Primera B

Basketball
This 2011 brought us the rebirth of the famous DIMAYOR basketball League, and currently both Concepción teams Club Deportivo Universidad de Concepción (CD UDECONCE) and CD Alemán de Concepción have a good performance. Before this year-end recess, UDECONCE on DIMAYOR is undefeated (14-0) at the first position; on the Liga Nacional movistar, amateur team Alemán is coming from behind and qualifying to the playofs. Both leagues are a mixture of Professional and new teams, nationwide.

Soccer
On soccer the teams seem to point to Primera División "B", since the three on Primera División suffered not to be relegated: Huachipato (Talcahuano) and UDECONCE saved the division by goal average; while Ñublense (Chillán) fell directly to Primera B.
On Tercera División, both Iberia (Los Ángeles) and Fernández Vial (Concepción) fought the promotion final tournament to reach Primera B, but failed.
And in the referred Primera B, Lota Schwager (Coronel), Deportes Concepción and Naval (Talcahuano) stayed. Naval had a chance to promote against a bottom-positioned Wanderers (Valparaíso), but also failed.

Court procedures delayed the demolition, no more than two lanes were partially opened, detours were made, and traffic jams occured on a four lanes, one way, downtown street.
